Astrology is the study of cycles and can be a prediction of future cycles and events. The planetary cycle most familiar to us begins from the sun's furthest southern declination at the Tropic of Capricorn with the winter solstice, to the summer solstice when the sun transits to its most northern declination at the Tropic of Cancer, then back to the winter solstice — completing one 12-month cycle. We know how to adapt to the changes this solar cycle brings, along with the shorter and more changeable 29.5-day lunar cycle.

We all have our own personal life cycles as well, beginning with the point where the heavens meet the earth on the horizon at the moment of our first breath. The map of the sky we are born under is like a blueprint for our life cycle, along with the many sub-cycles that depict the unfolding of our entire life. Personal natal astrology interpretation is a tool for understanding, awareness, and preparation for the unfoldment of these cycles. When interpreting the birth chart, the cycles one is born under and their succession over time lay the groundwork for navigating current and future cycles — using the ancient language of symbols for zodiac signs and planets as a system for meaningful interpretation.
